So Firedrums is coming up and I’m heading up the Raw Food in the kitchen again this year: which basically means that I get to spend my time making yummy raw vegan food for crazy hungry fire spinners. And I do mean crazy hungry. Last year I watched in amazement as two massive bowls of kale salad disappeared in less than 30 min. I’m talking the kind of bowl that is 30″ wide. so I put it out turned around to clean up and get things together and it was gone…… just an empty bowl sitting there, so I filed it up again and…..gone. in about 30 min max ~15 bunches of kale was consumed. wow, So this year were upping the game.

I’m thinking of adding a few things to the menu, I like making new stuff and I need to add a little more food to the mix, you spinners were just ravenous last year eating like crazy! )
so I’m thinking of adding breakfast this year, a yummy buckwheat, coconut, apple, granola with either nut milk or coconut yogurt. depends on the budget/and what cool foods the raw foodies bring to donate to the community meals.
I’m also considering adding a more kale salad for lunch this year (no brainier there) and changing one of the meal items out to be an Asian style sunflower seed pate over spinach. So on that note I’m heading back to the kitchen to start working on the food plan for you crazy hungry fire spinners.

I got something cool up my sleeve for you guys as well, but I’m not saying more yet.

Update : well the fans took me a long time to cut out and clean up, they are nice but it took a lot more time than it should have, so I’ve got a cnc class on the books at tech shop, well see if that can speed it up a little bit

We’ve been going to a weekly “hoop jam” and this month we took it indoors for the winter. Its a dance studio in the Health and Wellness Care Center. Mary took up hooping (yes that is with a hula hoop, but adult size and weight) this spring and has really had a blast with it. She took lessons from Crissy (theinfinitehoop).
I’ve started going to the hoop jams too so I can practice my staff spinning. She’s got me hooping a bit too. At the end of the hoop jam we turn out the lights and hoop with LED hoops. Really beautiful and makes some amazing photos, especially with the mirrors. Check them out on flickr: pics from the jams on Sept 23 and Sept 30.

Saturday night Mary, Crissy (theinfinitehoop) and I went to a park close by to do some LED hooping, I wanted to try out the ogg hoop mod I’ve been working on. I attached some oogs (got he oogs at flowtoys) to the outside of the hoop. I’ts an LED hoop that is more like a fire hoop. It worked great. LED hoops ROCK and we had a blast! Mary and Crissy hooped with their ProdMod LED hoops too and I pulled out my LED “fire” staff.

We had some fun taking pics too… there is a flickr set of the coolest pictures.
If your interested we have regular hoop jams on Tuesdays, check my twitter for the lowdown I usually get the location posted on the day of.
